Deputy Trade and Industry Minister to lead business delegation to Zimbabwe

Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Elizabeth Thabethe will lead a business delegation to attend the fifth Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI), aimed at increasing trade and investment between South Africa and Zimbabwe, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced on Friday.

The ITI, which is part of the DTI’s export and investment promotion strategy, was scheduled to take place in Harare and Bulawayo, in Zimbabwe, from October 14 to 18.

“The ITI will provide a platform to strengthen bilateral relations – economic and political – between South Africa and Zimbabwe, as well as to promote intra-African trade and the integration of the continent,” Thabethe said, adding that this ITI came as a follow-up on four previous successful ITIs in Zimbabwe.

The programme for the ITI would include bilateral meetings, site visits, mini exhibitions, and business-to-business meetings, targeting a range of sectors, including agriculture, agroprocessing, the built environment, oil and gas, mining and capital equipment, and electrotechnical.
