Deputy Tourism Minister Fish Mahlalela says the new Orpen Kruger Lodge, in Welverdiend, near the Kruger National Park, in Mpumalanga, will help grow the economy and the tourism sector.

“It is critical that we work together to achieve the objectives that we have set for ourselves as a country as part of the Economic Recovery and Reconstruction Plan. We, therefore, call for tourism stakeholders to work closely with municipalities to ensure zoning serves the long-term interest of the tourism sector and local communities,” he adds.

Since 2001, the Muthlwarheni Cooperative of the Welverdiend community has been engaged in efforts to uplift the community by setting up tourism value chain activities.

The Orpen Kruger Lodge hotel is a proud partnership, between the cooperative, Mont'Dor Clares and the Industrial Development Corporation, supported by Indalo Inclusive South Africa.
