Project Description
The De Wildt project was awarded preferred bidder status by the Department of Energy in June 2015, as part of the additional 13 projects that were awarded in the fourth round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.

According to SunEdison’s presentation on the project to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa in September, the project involves the construction of a solar photovoltaic plant, with a 55 MW ac capacity, south-east of Brits.

It will include a new 88 kV substation and a loop in, loop out into the existing De Wildt/Brits overhead lines.
The solar project will use single-axis tracker technology.
