Project Description
Dassiesklip wind energy project will be built on 350 ha, about 5 km west of Caledon, in the Western Cape.

The facility will include nine 3 MW turbines with a total capacity of 27 MW.

The turbines will comprise three 55 m blades and a hub height of 90 m.

The project will use an existing 66 kV line between Houwhoek and Caledon, and a new substation with 66 kV feeder bays will be constructed on the site boundary to transport the power generated by the wind farm. The project was one of 28 renewable- energy projects identified as preferred bidders under South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme in December 2011.
