Danfoss

The Denmark-headquartered Danfoss technology-focused group, which was founded by Mads Clausen in 1933, is a major multinational, with factories in 20 countries and sales offices in more than 100 locations. Its yearly turnover is in excess of €5-billion.

The 25 000-employee group’s products – used in refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, motor control and mobile machinery – are intended to meet the growing need for infrastructure, food supply, energy efficiency and climate-friendly solutions. Says a spokesperson for the group: “We are also active in the field of renewable energy and district heating infrastructure for cities and urban communities.”

Danfoss comprises four business segments, namely Danfoss Power Solutions, a leading player in hydraulic systems and components for powering off-highway mobile machinery; Danfoss Cooling, which is focused on air conditioning and refrigeration; Danfoss Drives, whose key expertise lies in low-voltage ac drives, power modules and stacks for various industries; and Danfoss Heating, a leader in residential and commercial heating, as well as district energy.

Danfoss is a major investor in innovation, with its research and development expenditure equating to 4% of yearly turnover, which is above the industry average. The group states that, on average, it is granted a patent every day. It partners with its customers and universities to not only boost research but also optimise the solutions it provides and help educate the engineers of tomorrow. The Danfoss group is privately owned by the Denmark-based Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation and its subsidiaries.
