Project Description
The Dainfern Square shopping centre will be anchored by several national retailers joining other South African chain stores, banks, restaurants and original local shops.

Above the ground floor, the retail section on Level 1 of the development will feature lettable offices and an upmarket gym.

Although there will be parking at ground level, the bulk of shoppers’ vehicles will be accommodated on two levels of superbasement parking, with a total of 1 246 parking bays.

The project will be completed in two phases.

The first phase will result in the development of 25 000 m2, while the second phase will comprise 15 000 m2 of development.

Main contractor Murray & Roberts started casting the decks for the groundfloor and roof erection in August this year.

At the project’s peak, there will be more than 700 personnel on site. The Murray & Roberts building team is mentoring two emerging contractors who are responsible for bricklaying as part of the Murray & Roberts Enterprise Development Programme. Site labour is being recruited through a black-women-owned company that employs labour from the local community.
