Cooling system produces reduced noise pollution

Multinational electronics company Samsung Electronics’ Free Joint Multi (FJM) air conditioning system is able to create required temperatures while producing less noise pollution and preserving outdoor space.

The company says the FJM is capable of doing this as it runs off a single outdoor unit, which is also capable of powering up to five indoor units. The outdoor unit can give complete temperature control within residential and light commercial spaces.

“The air conditioning system is designed to use less outdoor space while maximising on indoor performance. It improves comfort levels by achieving an optimal temperature to maintain wellbeing,” adds Samsung South Africa digital appliances head Michael McKechnie.

The indoor units may be of a different style and capacity depending on the room or user’s requirements. Each unit can be controlled independently to achieve different temperatures.

Therefore, the most ideal ambience can be created in one room without having to run all the units at the same time. This reduces electricity consumption and cost while ensuring that the home temperature remains under the user’s control.

“FJM air conditioners are designed with simplicity in mind, enhanced by Samsung’s inverter-driven technology. This decreases energy consumption even further, while reducing noise and vibration levels, making them energy efficient,” says McKechnie.

In inverter technology, an inverter is used to control the speed of the compressor motor to continuously regulate the temperature. The direct current (dc) inverter units have a variable frequency drive that comprises an adjustable electrical inverter to control the speed of the cooling and heating output.

The drive converts the incoming alternating current to dc and then, through a modulation in an electrical inverter, produces a current of desired frequency.
