Company provides diverse electronics manufacturing capability

Local manufacturing company Projects Concern Manufacturing (PCM) is a contract electronics manufacturer with manufacturing skills and capability within the niche printed circuit boards (PCB) market.

The company’s manufacturing services include SMT, through-hole, ultrafine pitch and ball grip array solutions.

PCM’s products are manufactured and assembled in the company’s 3 600 m2 facility.

This facility offers a significant barrier to entry based on both the replacement cost of the equipment, estimated at R65-million, as well as the knowledge and experience required to write out the specifications and operate the machinery effectively.

The company has air-conditioning systems capable of one-million British Thermal Units of air in PCM’s laboratories; an advanced air compression system; a 350-kVA generator and 60 kVA of uninterruptible power supply to ensure stable power supply, as well as a sophisticated antistatic system.

PCM also has an environmental testing chamber to ensure that its electrical devices perform as required in their respective operating environment.

This setup is designed for flexible addition or movement of the production lines, with respect to extraction and power or air requirements.

Specific equipment that makes PCM unique in the market include X-ray facilities, an environmental chamber for testing, and jet printers for prototypes and small production requirements.

PCM populates PCBs for all electronic sectors. This includes defence; aerospace; mining; security; industrial commercial; renewable energy; medical; communications; automotive and rail.

The company boasts multiple lines and disciplines that cover diverse manufacturing requirements. PCM offer full turnkey solutions, as well as manufacture and assembly only.

The company specialises in high-margin low-volume manufacturing; has a placement capacity of 200 000 components per hour and extends services to dedicated prototype equipment.

PCM are specialists in process control and have applied and adhered to all major internationally recognized quality and compliance standards.

The company places emphasis on maintaining the highest quality standards. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified with global technical services provider TÜV SÜD South Africa, and has an IPC-A-610 instructor, building up to Class 3 specification.

The company has received multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom certification, which will unlock significant competitive advantage.
