Company integrates security and fire protection systems

CEDRIC GREEVES Tyco provides fire-detection extinguishing systems that are integrated into the security system of buildings

Fire protection solutions provider Tyco provides products that are integrated into a building’s secu- rity management systems, states Tyco integrated fire and security South Africa sales leader Cedric Greeves.

He tells Engineering News that the local branch of the global company, which he describes as the world’s largest fire security company, has a client base that spans over 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

“Tyco Integrated Fire and Secu-rity solutions include a comprehensive and complete range of fire prevention, detection and suppression products that can be integrated into a seamless solution.

“Our flame detector, for instance, has a built-in camera that enables an operator to visually verify whether there is indeed a fire after the detector has indicated that there is one,” Greeves explains.

Automatic Unlocking

The solution can, for example, also incorporate remote access door-unlocking functionality that automatically unlocks designated emergency exit doors after a fire has been detected for safe egress. The functionality can be automatic or an operator in a control room can activate it.
Greeves adds that Tyco has invested in enhancing and upgrading its existing fire suppression products over the years.
