Company extends range to meet demand for portable power

ENSURING DEPENDABLE POWER NSM’s welder is just one of several new products in Vert Energy’s offering for the mining, commercial and industrial sectors

Having identified a growing need for dependable portable power, particularly in the agriculture and mining sectors, for maximum efficiency of power tools in construction and for small-scale commercial and residential applications, custom power solutions provider Vert Energy is extending its range of electric power generation (EPG) components.

New to the company’s product offering are manufacturer NSM’s synchronous alternators, welding sets, permanent magnet generators (PMGs) and power takeoff (PTO) generators, all of which help to ensure a reliable, clean and stable power supply.

“Portable generators are not only essential in the event of a power outage, but are also useful in remote places where conventional power is unavailable. Vert Energy’s standby and power solutions service to generator set builders entails an extensive range of dependable EPG components for both the general industry and mines, as well as the commercial and industrial sectors. These solutions focus on areas that are off-grid and for industries where power supply is not constant or reliable,” explains Vert Energy director Ryan Robertson.

He adds that the company’s product portfolio, which is extended on an ongoing basis to meet exact market demand, now includes NSM’s two- pole 3 000 rpm alternators, from 2.2 kVA to 22 kVA in the 220 V and 380 V versions respectively.

NSM single- and three-phase two-pole precisions brushless synchronous alternators with a capacitor are suitable for basic power supply applications. For more complex applications, such as units with electronics like uninterrupted power supply systems, single- and three-phase two-pole brush synchronous alternators with automatic voltage regulators (AVRs) are recommended. AVR units ensure voltage regulation is consistent, which is critical for units that are sensitive to voltage ripples and spikes, says Robertson.

Solutions for dependable portable power in the agriculture sector also include NSM Tractorwatt PTO generators. These three-phase brush generators, which provide reliable power takeoff from the prop shaft of a tractor, are available with a capacitor or an AVR.

Robertson highlights that NSM welding sets, which have been designed for use as a portable welding unit and a generator, are gaining popularity in the construction sector.

Meanwhile, the compact PMG-GS system for generating sets improves engine performance and the speed is adjusted according to the output load, reducing fuel consumption and lowering noise levels. The system consists of a PMG, a single-phase inverter with an electromagnetic compatibility filter and a regulation kit for engine revolutions control. This control system ensures a constant inverter output voltage if load variations occur.

NSM has also launched a new range of PMG for micro wind energy production. This PMG features high performance and low cogging to ensure the wind turbine spins, even with minimum wind speed. This range supplies continuous output power from 0.5 kVA to 6 kVA with a high overload capacity for a limited time span.

Other EPG components in Vert Energy’s range include Leroy Somer alternators, DEIF controllers; ASCO automatic transfer switches; API Covrad radiators and Avtron and Froment load banks, as well as customised control panels. AllightSykes MSGEN2 lighting towers, which offer over 50 000 hours of light/unit, are also new to Vert Energy.
