Supplier commits to more sustainable packaging

A year after the launch of the Quartz Xtra range – which was developed to meet the needs of the latest generation of engines, such as hybrids and downsized, and provide significant fuel savings up to 4% – lubricant supplier TotalEnergies Lubricants is taking another step forward.

The company is stepping up its efforts to promote the circular economy. The company is also taking this effort a step further by offering high density polyethylene (HDPE) cans for the Quartz Xtra range, which are made from 50% recycled plastics and are 100% recyclable.

The recycled resins come from a processing unit where the waste materials are crushed, separated and transformed into reusable granules. The recycled material represents 50% of the new packaging.

The Quartz Xtra HDPE cans are fully recyclable many times. The waste is recycled into secondary raw materials without changing the basic structure of the material. Quartz Xtra lubricants manufactured in Europe now benefit from this new packaging for the 1 ℓ and 5 ℓ sizes.

This innovation boosts the use of recycled plastics in TotalEnergies’ packaging and contributes to the company’s ambition to offer increasingly affordable, clean, reliable energy that is accessible to as many people as possible.

“We are committed to offering our partners and customers solutions that promote a circular economy. This project demonstrates our technical expertise and our ability to innovate, putting our products at the service of mobility that is both efficient and sustainable,” notes TotalEnergies Lubricants automotive director Jean Parizot.
