Compact series mixers offer faster availability

6th August 2019

A new compact series mixer offers a more standardised solution for users who require faster availability.

The mixers are especially suitable for open tank applications such as municipal and industrial water or wastewater and mining and minerals slurry processes, as well as for sealed tank applications, such as chemical process applications that require a mechanical seal.

In addition, the new series offers a choice of impellers and a gearbox designed specifically for reliability in mixing applications. The Lightnin SPX FLOW Compact Series also includes the Lightnin True Dry Well that is cast into the gearbox. Critical for drinking water and other applications, the dry well is designed to protect against lubricants seeping past shaft seals and contaminating process fluids.

The units offer a compact footprint with reduced weight and promise easier installation with integrated cast iron feet on the gearbox. The series can accommodate double or triple reduction in the same gearbox size, allowing the same space to accommodate multiple speeds. Parallel shafts in the gearbox aim to ensure quiet, smooth operation and, with low temperature rise in the unit, long lubricant life. The impellers are designed to optimise mixing performance by maximising flow generation and minimising drive loads.

The range covers powers of 0.75 to 55 kW (1 hp to 75 hp) with speeds of 13 rpm to 155 rpm, and includes OSHA, CE and ATEX certification and availability of premium efficiency for safe area motors. The gearboxes, shaft and impeller are assembled in the company’s US facility, which has precision tooling, testing and metrology capability.
