Comair warns of 50% drop in H1 earnings

Aviation group Comair continued to experience a contraction in earnings and reversal of revenue growth in the half-year to December 2015 on the back of a decline in average market fares.

The group on Thursday said it expected earnings per share (EPS) and headline earnings per share (HEPS) to plunge at least 50%, or by 18.8c, when compared with the 37.6c recorded in the prior corresponding period.

“There is currently insufficient certainty to enable the group to provide specific guidance on the extent of the expected decrease in both HEPS end EPS,” Comair said in a trading update.

The group aimed to publish an updated trading statement prior to the release of its interim financial results on January 29.
