Clough AMEC JV awarded A$70m Bowen FEED contract

Australia-based oil and gas-focused engineering and construction company Clough, a subsidiary of Murray & Roberts, on Monday announced that the Clough AMEC joint venture had been awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for coal seam gas (CSG) company Arrow Energy’s proposed Bowen gas project in central Queensland, Australia.

The Bowen gas project involved the staged expansion of Arrow’s existing domestic CSG production in the basin, to supply gas to the domestic market, as well as for the production and export of liquefied natural gas.

The A$70-million FEED contract would entail front-end engineering to support the next phase of Arrow’s work to develop and commercialise the Bowen basin gas reserves, as well as procurement and contracts to be awarded for the early works.

“This important contract will extend our presence across the Queensland CSG sector and support the planned growth in our engineering division, while providing an excellent opportunity to showcase the benefits of value-focused Australian engineering,” Clough CEO and MD Kevin Gallagher said.

He added that Clough would work closely with Arrow and AMEC to establish strong foundations for the successful delivery of the development in the longer term.

The FEED contract would start on October 6 and was expected to continue for up to 12 months.
