20th October 2016

The Transnet National Ports Authority in Durban bestowed upon Chevron South Africa’s Lubricants Manufacturing Plant at the Island View Terminal the Best Performing Terminal Operator (Island View Precinct) award for 2016. The LMP was also nominated as one of the top three terminals in terms of Safety, Health and Environmental compliance.

In addition, the plant received the Supplier of the Year Award 2016 from Aftermarkets Solutions for its commitment to its distribution partners.Chevron South Africa’s LMP in Durban was established 100 years ago, in 1916. The plant currently has a blending capacity of 90 million litres per year, supplying around 11% of South Africa’s lubricants market.

Chevron South Africa’s Lubricants Supply Chain Manager, Gehad Nasr, said, “Chevron South Africa has recently invested in the upgrade of the plant and facilities to ensure its continued high performance and our exceptional safety record to date, in which we have achieved 3,054 days without injury and 8 years spill free. We are pleased that the LMP has been recognized through these two recent awards.”

“We are exceptionally proud  of our production of some of the world’s most advanced lubricants, as well as our commitment to our distribution partners.  This was recently acknowledged at the Aftermarket Solutions Supplier of the Year Awards where Chevron’s Finished Lubricants was awarded the Parts Incorporated Africa (PIA) Emerald award -  the highest achievement - beating not only all our lubricant competitors, but 300 other competing suppliers, including some from around the world,” remarked Fabian Magerman, Chevron Lubricants Area Sales Manager Southern Africa.

The LMP commenced production of Chevron’s latest premium diesel engine oil - Caltex Delo® 400 MGX SAE 15W-40, which was launched this month.  This advanced revolutionary formulation constitutes a higher specification, with an improved formulation that will benefit both new and older diesel engines, thereby helping customers to utilise just one heavy duty engine oil that operates efficiently in both high and low- sulphur fuel environments.

The LMP completed its first filling of the new Caltex Delo® 400 MGX SAE 15W-40 in 210 litre, 20 litre and 5 litre containers this past week, ready for distribution to the market.

Through its LMP, Chevron South Africa contributes to the supply of lubricants to the South African markets and to the local economy in terms of jobs, taxes and spend on goods and services.
