Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) has appointed Chris Campbell CEO, effective December 1.

The position was left vacant when Lefadi Makibinyane resigned in January to take up the position of CEO of water utility Amatola Water.

Cesa acting CEO Wally Mayne would, from December, return to his position as contractual affairs manager.

“I look forward to interacting with all of you when I can. Let’s see how we can make the quantum leap in our profession and professional environment to build a South Africa that our grandchildren can be proud of,” Campbell told delegates at the 2015 Cesa Infrastructure Indaba, in Gauteng.

Campbell has worked at a number of consulting engineering companies and most recently served as Engineering Council of South Africa president.

He also held a position at Transnet, as well as an executive role at Aveng Group’s precast concrete business unit Aveng Infraset.

“We thank Wally for his sterling job in captaining the Cesa ship during his tenure as acting CEO. He has stabilised the directorate and laid a solid base for Chris to continue,” Cesa president Abe Thela said.
