Top honours will be awarded to member companies of Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) on August 12, in Midrand, at the Cesa Aon Engineering Excellence Awards, which will showcase the quality, innovation and exceptional workmanship in the consulting engineering industry.

Jointly hosted by Cesa and risk solutions company Aon South Africa professional risks division, the awards aim to acknowledge consulting engineers and their clients, who initiate and fund projects that focus on advancing South Africa and people on the African continent.

Cesa acting CEO Wally Mayne says the awards underpin the excellent quality of work that member firms are capable of delivering to help South Africa progress.

“We take great pride in the competency of Cesa members who play a pivotal role in South African society and in the greater South African economy. The progress of this country and its sustainability is touched on daily by some facet of engineering and, without this, the vast majority of development and upliftment we need would not happen,” he says.

Further, with government’s aiming to develop the economy and triple its gross domestic product by 2030, Mayne says the consulting engineering industry has a significant role to play in achieving this growth through infrastructure provision.

This sector is ready to assist government in implementing the National Development Plan, he asserts, and adds that this is particularly important to increase employment and overcome inequality.

Aon South Africa principal broker for professional risks Meggyn Marot says Cesa’s strive for excellence echoes Aon’s unwavering support of professionals, particularly independent consulting engineers, in South Africa.
