Project Description
The project involves the construction of a large-scale hydropower plant with a total capacity of 2 172 MW.

The plant will comprise the installation of four 530 MW Francis turbines, an additional Francis turbine with an output of 52 MW, generators, and control and auxiliary systems.

The electricity generated at the plant will be evacuated through a 400 kW power transmission line. Following the commissioning of the power plant, about two-thirds of Angolan energy will be derived from hydropower.

Potential Job Creation
During the main construction period, about 7 000 jobs will be created for workers in the region.

Capital Expenditure
$4.53-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
