Buhle Waste

Waste management company Buhle Waste is a second-generation, family-run business that is 100% black owned and managed.

“We strive to achieve excellence in all of our business activities in the communities in which we operate. As such, we aim to uphold the concept of ubuntu, knowing that it takes a community to help raise a business,” explains the company.

The business has been developed on the belief that “our homes and cities must be beautiful spaces, a love for our people should be fostered and respect for our environment should be maintained. At Buhle Waste, we strive to achieve beauty, love and respect in all that we do.”

The company manages all waste streams, including, but not limited to, general, industrial, chemical, hazardous, medical and sanitation waste, and provides waste receptacles for the collection and treatment of waste at its approved and licenced facilities.

Buhle Waste’s strategic partnerships enable the company to create refuse-derived fuel from its treatment processes, reducing its waste to landfill, as well as provide Health Professions Council of South Africa-accredited and Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority-certified medical waste training to its clients, and, most importantly, track its clients’ waste from cradle to grave.

Over the years, Buhle Waste has grown from a small business operating just two trucks in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, to a business with more than 350 staff members and a fleet of more than 70 trucks operating nationwide. This year (2017) is the company’s twentieth year in business and this achievement has only been possible through the perseverance, resilience and dedication of the Buhle Waste community – “our staff, clients and partners”.
