Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 4 MW biogas-to-power plant in Bronkhorstspruit.

About 40 000 t/y of cattle manure and 20 000 t of mixed organic waste will be fed into two anaerobic digesters, which will produce the biogas feedstock for a combined heat and power application using internal combustion gas generator sets.

The clean electricity produced by the plant will be used by a large automotive manufacturer for its plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria.

Barloworld Power has been awarded a contract by Bosch Projects to supply equipment for the project.

Barloworld will supply four 1 MW Cat CG170-12 generator sets and ancillary items for stepping up the produced power to a 22 kV distribution system, as well as heat recovery equipment for the digester operation.
