Project Description
The project is being developed under Egypt’s first-round feed-in-tariff programme. All the electricity generated will be acquired by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

The project will entail the construction of a 52.6 MW ac and 60.2 MW dc single-axis tracking system comprising about 188 160 PV panels.

Power will be transferred to an inverter and fed into the utility power-grid system through the EETC substation.

Access roads, water and wastewater services, waste management services, logistics and security services, as well as worker accommodation, will be provided by the New and Renewable Energy Authority.

Value
The total cost of the project is estimated at $120-million.

Duration
Project procurement and construction will be undertaken between the third quarter of this year and the third quarter of 2017, and the plant will be operational for a 25-year period, with options to extend the lease after that date.
