The recommendations contained in the Department of Basic Education’s Ministerial Task Team Report on the National Senior Certificate appear to be sensible and sound. The emphasis given to improving the quality of teaching in the area of English, mathematics and science is also laudable. However, the true test lies in implementation, which will require buy-in from all stakeholders.
