Chery South Africa (SA), importer of the Chinese Chery brand, is entering the local commercial vehicle market for the first time with the introduction of the P10, a 15-seater people mover.

The vehicle is priced at R289 900.

Chery SA MD Brett Soso says the P10 is targeted at the hospitality industry, corporates, schools, universities and the like.

The Chery P10 is powered by a two-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 125 kW at 5 500 rpm and 235 Nm of torque at 1 900 rpm.

The engine complies with Euro IV emissions regulations, with fuel consumption rated at 11 ℓ/100 km.

The rear-wheel-drive vehicle uses a five-speed manual gearbox.

Convenience features include electric front windows, a radio and CD player with four speakers, power steering and four-way adjustable driver and front-passenger seats.

The seats are cloth-covered.

Safety and security items include antilock brakes with electronic brake distribution, an antitheft alarm immobiliser, central locking with remote activation, halogen headlights, a rear-window wiper and side impact bars in the doors.

The Chery P10 is covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty with three-year roadside assistance.

There are 36 Chery dealers countrywide.
