Augusta Steel

Situated in Boksburg, in Gauteng at a 25 000 m² processing operation plant, steel processing company Augusta Steel’s plant has the capacity to handle coils of rolled steel of up to 30 tons.

Over the past five years, Augusta Steel has invested in new machinery and has upgraded its existing process lines, which include a large bore tube mill that will be completely commissioned by the end of this month.

This addition to the company’s plant will not only compliment its current product range, but also give the company the ability to enter alternative markets such as the conveyor industry, while maintaining a high level of quality service in the steel industry.

Augusta Steel procures steel directly from steel producer ArcelorMittal at the lowest cost available to the market. This enables the company to process a variety of steel profiles and tubing sizes for the steel industry at competitive prices.

Augusta Steel’s tube mills have the capability to manufacture various diameters of steel tubing, which have different wall thicknesses that are within critical accuracies.

Owing to this, the company maintains a large range of finished products in both the open section and tubular range and also manufactures specific length products upon request by the customer.

Augusta Steel’s tubing is manufactured according to the SANS 657-1 specification as well as the SANS 62-1 specification for water pipes. Both the specifications are approved by the South African Bureau of Standards, while the tube mill that will be commissioned end of the month, will facilitate the addition of the SANS 657-3 specification for conveyor tubes to Augusta Steels quality marks.

Augusta Steel is a level 4 contributor to BBBEE and continuously strives on improving its status.

The company is also a proud member of the Uni-span group of companies.
