JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Global mining and investor conferences organiser, the 121 Group, is set for its biggest event in Cape Town in February 2017.

With 63 mining companies already registered for two days of meetings with investors, attendance is three times higher than 2015, when the company held its first conference. Investor registration also doubled from last year.

121 Group partner Pablo Martin said that next year’s conference would be its largest event yet. “We are delighted with the growth that the 121 conferences have had over the last few years, with mining events now in Cape Town, London, Hong Kong and we are launching our first event in New York in June 2017.

“The scale of commitment from the mining companies is a sign of returning confidence in the sector. With investor registration up 100% to date on last year, new and returning mining companies can continue to benefit from our events, allowing face-to-face meetings with institutional investors in a relaxed setting.”

With 250 expected registrants, the 121 Group is having to tank in 36 000 ℓ of grey water to secure marquees. The build-up for the event is set to take seven days with the meeting points being laid on 1 600 m2 of interlocking flooring.
