ARC for Renewable Energy solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

Location
The project will be located in Egypt, within its New and Renewable Energy Agency (NREA)’s 37.5 km2 Benban 1.8 GW PV solar park, situated 12 km west of the nearest village (Benban), and 15 km west of the Nile river.

ARC for Renewable Energy, comprising Enerray, SECI Energia and Desert Technologies.

Project Description
The project is being developed under the first round of Egypt’s feed-in-tariff programme, and involves the construction of a 50 MW solar PV plant.

This will comprise a single-axis tracking system of about 201 000 PV panels, with a nominal capacity of 50 MW ac and a peak capacity of 63 MW dc.

Power will be conveyed to an inverter and be fed into the utility power grid system through the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company substation.

Jobs to be Created
The project is expected to employ about 150 workers during construction and eight personnel during the operational phase of the project.

Value
The total project cost is up to $126.1-million.

Duration
Project procurement and construction will take place between the third quarter of 2016 and the third quarter of 2017, and the plant will be operational for a 25-year period, with the option to extend the lease after that date.
