Hüseyin M Akin has been appointed CEO designate of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa – a joint venture emerging from the combination of the South and East Africa-based soft drinks bottling operations of The Coca-Cola Company and Gutsche Family Investments.

Akin, the current Anadolu Efes beverages unit deputy CEO and chairperson of Coca-Cola Içecek’s subsidiary boards, would, from March, lead the strategic and integration planning for the new bottler, London- and Johannesburg-listed SABMiller said in a statement.

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa would serve 12 fast-growing countries in Southern and East Africa with more than 30 bottling plants and account for about 40% of all Coca-Cola beverage volumes in Africa.

“As the continent’s largest bottler, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa has a generations-long growth opportunity ahead of it. The next few years will be critical as we merge and integrate the new business in readiness to deliver its full potential,” Akin said.
