Agrément South Africa awards 38 fit-for-purpose certificates

Agrément South Africa (SA), an agency of the Department of Public Works, managed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), awarded fit-for-purpose certificates to 38 industry players during the 2015/16 financial year.

An Agrément SA certification assisted manufacturers and suppliers of nonstandard and innovative building products, materials and systems in the South African market to provide products that were fit-for-purpose.

“Agrément SA regulations stipulate a minimum performance requirement that would mean the contractor has met the national standard,” said Agrément SA CEO Joe Odhiambo.

He added that products that carried a level of assurance inevitably gained greater market acceptance and recognition, as end-users had greater confidence in the products and the technical information provided.

“The world is continuously changing and innovation is a constant requirement. New building materials are constantly being developed and the need for a service to help test innovative new building materials, products and systems will remain prominent,” stated Odhiambo.
