Afrox signs R400m Scaw oxygen supply contract extension

JSE-listed African Oxygen (Afrox) has signed a ten-year extension for the supply of 50 t/d of oxygen to steel and steel products manufacturer Scaw Metals Group’s Wadeville works, in Gauteng.

Afrox said the new agreement, encompassing previous updates of old agreements, would be worth more than R400-million in the longer term.

“Scaw Metals has been a long-time customer and we are delighted to have been awarded this contract extension.

“For Afrox, this is recognition of the improvements made in our tonnage plant reliability, which in the first half of 2014 attained levels of 99% nationally,” Afrox MD Brett Kimber said.
