AECOM appoints new Director for Architecture in Africa

Premier fully-integrated global infrastructure firm AECOM has appointed Adriaan Vorster as Director for Architecture in Africa. Vorster is a professional architect with 19 years’ experience, including a decade at a strategic, managerial, and business leadership level.

In addition, he has 15 years’ international experience in leading the design and delivery of large-scale healthcare campuses in the UK, North America, and the Far and Middle East. He has Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture and Construction Sciences from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (previously the University of Port Elizabeth).

Vorster is a registered Professional Architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession, a Chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the South African Institute of Architects, and the South African Federation for Health Engineers. He joins AECOM from SSH, where he was the Healthcare Director for the MENA region, Resident Director of South Africa, and Partner.

Vorster is a member of a small international peer group of world-class healthcare construction consultants. By overlaying the specialist needs of healthcare facilities with advanced construction and project management techniques, Vorster is able to guide clients and contractors in the efficient delivery of fast-track, high-quality, large-scale infrastructure projects.

“This senior appointment reflects our strategic commitment to grow our architectural market sector offering. It will assist in positioning AECOM as the leading fully-integrated global infrastructure firm in Africa,” Joe Ndala, AECOM Managing Director, South Africa, comments.
