Sedibeng Regional Santitation Scheme upgrade project, South Africa
Name and Location
Sedibeng Regional Santitation Scheme upgrade project, Gauteng, South Africa.
Client
The project is being implemented by Rand Water.
Project Description
The scheme is undergoing major upgrades to unlock residential and business developments in the Vaal area and parts of Johannesburg south.
The Sedibeng sanitation plant has a capacity of 100 Mℓ, but currently operates at 151 Mℓ, this above maximum capacity, bringing multiple property developments to a stand still.
The upgrade will generate 50 Mℓ by 2017 and an additional 50 Mℓ by 2018 to take it to 200 Mℓ.
This is expected to unlock major property developments and further prevent overflow of sewage into the Vaal and local streams.
