Project Description
The project involves the construction of more than 4 000 houses in Roodepoort, on the West Rand.
It will comprise mixed tenure, mixed density and mixed land use.
The project will be implemented in six phases, with the first phase being constructed as the Show Village Development. This part will comprise 281 dwelling units and is being developed on the proclaimed Township of Princess Ext 22.
The first phase will comprise multistorey rental units and semidetached bonded houses. The project will include a sports field and businesses, as well as a church, a crèche, a primary school and a multipurpose centre.
The first phase is being implemented through the Department of Human Settlements and will comprise 3 500 houses, while the phase being constructed by the City of Johannesburg is expected to yield 804 houses.
