Power cuts are unlikely over the weekend, Eskom said on Friday.

Spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said deliberate power cuts became necessary on Thursday evening due to constraints on the power system.

Load-shedding on Friday and over the weekend, however, appeared unlikely.

"At this stage, the grid is stable."

Generally, the power system was under the greatest pressure on weekday evenings between 17:00 and 21:00, he said.
