Project Description
The project aims to double the amount of water available from the Nooitgedagt WTW to the Nelson Mandela Bay area, to meet the increasing demand for water in the region.

Phase 2 of the WTW will increase capacity from 70-million litres a day (Mℓ/d) to 140 Mℓ/d and includes the construction of six new filters and the extension of the filter control building, as well as the new low-lift pumpstation, which will complete the Nooitgedagt-Coega Low Level Scheme.

Phase 2 includes the use of new filter technology and ultraviolet light for better quality and increased volumes of water supply to the water-stressed Nelson Mandela Bay municipality.

Phase 3 will include the construction of a 45-Mℓ reservoir at Olifantskop.

Phase 2 will cost R126-million to implement.

Duration
The WTW is expected to be completed by February 2017.
