Mae Moh power plant project, Thailand
Name and Location
Mae Moh power plant project, Thailand.
Client
Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
Project Description
The project involves the construction of a new unit at Mae Moh power plant.
This new unit will replace existing units four to seven and will make Mae Moh the first lignite-fired power plant in Asia operating under ultrasupercritical conditions.
On its completion, using the ultra-superficial boiler, steam turbine and generator, the unit will produce 600 MW of electricity, through optimum environ-mental performance, with atmospheric emissions reduced to meet the most stringent regulations.
Value
The value of the contract is €950-million.
Duration
The project is expected to be completed in 2018.
Latest Developments
Alstom, in a consortium with Marubeni Corporation, has signed an agreement with the EGAT to supply and build the new unit at the Mae Moh power plant.
The contract will be undertaken on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.
Alstom will supply the ultrasupercritical boiler with an integrated selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxide, its ultrasupercritical steam turbine and generator, as well as the air-quality control systems comprising a wet flue gas desulphurisation system.
This will reduce sulphur oxides by more than 98%.
The electrostatic precipitators will enable the capture of particulate and dust emissions at an efficiency of more than 99.9%
