Asia-based trade exhibition companies Power Trans- mission & Control (PTC) Asia, CeMAT Asia and ComVac Asia achieved their aim to assist in the growth of the power transmission market in Asia in their four-day trade show in October last year at the Shanghai International Exhibition Centre, in China.

Collectively the three events – which cover power transmission, control and fluid power, intralogistics, and compressed air and vacuum technology – showcased more than 2 100 exhibiting companies on 150 000 m² of gross display area and attracted 77 067 visitors from 80 countries and regions.

“In addition to launching ComVac Asia this year, we introduced special programmes, such as Industrial Supply Asia, Battery Shanghai, Cold Chain ASIA, and Lift Shangai. “We are not just selling booths, we also develop our events to serve the market, which means providing a platform where exhibitors can do business, attracting the appropriate groups of visitors and providing educational and networking programmes,” says marketing and trade exhibitor Deutsche Messe senior VP Wolfgang Pech.

He adds that PTC Asia 2013 featured 1 600 exhibiting companies on 90 000 m² of gross display area, with growth in both the mechanical and fluid power transmission sectors. ComVac Asia accounted for an additional 160 exhibitors and 8 600 m².

Despite the recent global downturn in the machinery industry, participants included industry leaders such as gear motors company Bonfiglioli, drives and technologies specialists Bosch Rexroth, pneumatic components manufacturer Camozzi, manufacturing and technology company Emerson, motion control company Parker Hannifin, drive manufacturer SEW Eurodrive, electronics company Siemens, and mechanical power transmissions manufacturer SKF.

Pech mentions that companies in national pavilions from France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the US also attended the four-day event.

“Companies are increasingly aware that an exhibition such as PTC Asia is an excellent place to investigate the market, gather information and conduct trade negotiations,” says Power Trans- mission Engineering Association within the German Engineering Federation MD Hartmut Rauen.

CeMAT Asia 2013 hosted 490 exhibitors on 37 000 m² of gross display area. Exhibiting global companies included Cascade, materials handling company Daifuku, materials handling automation company Dematic, marketing company Goodsense, materials handling equipment company Jungheinrich, mechanical engineering company Kenmec, systems and automation company SSI Schaefer and warehouse equipment manufacturer Vita-Wheel. Duetsche Messe highlights that many companies demonstrated integrated solutions that were crucial to improving efficiency in the materials handling and logistics industry.

“CeMAT Asia is a good platform for our comprehensive range of products and enables us to develop more business opportunities. “We demonstrated products and lots of buyers placed orders on site,” says Jungheinrich MD Alexander Oezbahadir.

CeMAT Asia’s supporting programme featured a free, neutral and open Innovation Salon, where businesses, trade associations and the media were able to exchange information, as well as group tours, technical forums, matchmaking and networking events.

PTC Asia, CeMAT Asia and ComVac Asia are organised by Deutsche Messe and Hannover Milano Fairs Shang hai and will host the event again from October 27 to 30 this year in Shanghai.
