JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has called on businesses in the mining and capital equipment, mineral beneficiation, electrotechnical and mining services sectors, as well as other companies with mining rights that were seeking investors, to participate in an outward selling and investment mission to Australia in September.

The mission, which would take place on the slidelines of the ‘Africa Down Under’ mining conference from September 2 to 4, would bring together global mining executives, investors and consultants to tackle challenges and respond to opportunities in the mining sector.

Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mzwandile Masina said the mission would serve to promote South Africa’s’ mining sector and preview opportunities in high-growth markets.

“We urge companies to take advantage of our Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) scheme, which covers accommodation, air tickets and excess luggage costs for their samples and marketing material to ensure that they are able to also showcase their products to potential buyers,” he commented.

Masina added that the DTI had planned a programme of activities that would include a business forum and site visits, as well as one-on-one meetings with participating companies and investors from Australia and elsewhere.

The closing date for entries was July 3.
