Sector Charter Councils have been given until 15 November to submit aligned sector codes to Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies for approval, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) warned on Monday.

It added that all existing codes submitted for approval thereafter would be repealed.

If sector codes were repealed, entities operating in the affected sectors would have to use the amended Broad-Based Black Economic-Empowerment (BBBEE) codes of Good Practice for measurement.

In May, all existing sector codes that were not aligned to the amended BBBEE codes were granted further extension to complete the alignment process by end-October.
