The South African National Energy Association (Sanea) has appointed Brian Day, of energy group Cennergi, to the newly created role of MD, following leadership changes made in light of Brian Statham’s retirement from the role of executive chairperson.

Day would fill the position on a part-time basis and would be accountable for the execution of Sanea’s growth plans.

The leadership and structural changes were endorsed at the organisation’s March annual general meeting and affirmed at a subsequent board meeting. The new structure would come into effect on May 1.

Statham would assume the role of nonexecutive chairperson, while Dave Wright, of Engen Petroleum, would continue in the role of secretary general.
