JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Representatives from Chinese firm Shandong Electric Power Construction No 2 (Sepco2) will make their way to Tanzania to review London-listed Edenville Energy’s Rukwa coal project with a view to potentially forming a partnership.

The Tanzania-focused coal-based energy group on Wednesday said that following meetings in China earlier this year, where Edenville held discussions with a number of potential partners, Sepco2 planned to visit the site and undertake “detailed talks” in July.

“After extensive access to our dataroom, Sepco2 continues to approach the project in a professional manner and it is a pleasure to work alongside them,” Edenville CEO Rufus Short said.

The site visit would include meetings with Tanzanian government organisations relevant to the project, such as the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Tanzania Electric Supply Company, along with project suppliers and contractors.

“The company is working closely with Sepco2 to ensure the visit provides the information they require and that meaningful progress can be made,” he concluded.
