The Western Cape would play host to the South African Outsourcing and Offshoring Summit 2015, from March 4 to 6, Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde announced on Thursday.

Global companies, international investors and analysts were expected to descend on the event that promised an “ideal opportunity” to showcase the strength of the Western Cape’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offering.

The summit is presented by Business Process Enabling South Africa, which played a critical role in marketing the Western Cape region to contact centre heavyweights across the globe.

Winde said there were significant opportunities to grow the Western Cape’s market share in niche segments of the BPO industry, which employed over 40 000 people.

“In this province, economic growth and jobs are our number one priority. That is why we continue to support the growth of this sector,” he said, adding that the event was suitable for showcasing the province’s “competitive advantage”.
