Sole distributor of Genie products in Southern Africa Goscor Hi-Reach won the award for Best Performance for Scissor Lifts, which have achieved good sales figures in South Africa, at this year’s annual Genie Awards.

“Our most recent order, comprising 15 battery-powered scissor lifts for South African Airways’ (SAA’s) aircraft maintenance division, SAA Technical, is being delivered this month,” says Goscor Hi-Reach Southern Africa MD George Landsberg, noting that the scissor lift range includes battery-powered and diesel-operated rough terrain units.

Goscor Hi-Reach, a business unit of industrial equipment and solutions supplier Goscor, also received the award for Best Aftermarket Service at the Genie Awards, which coincide with the Terex/Genie Middle East Africa Dealer Summit, in Dubai, in March. Landsberg believes that the award is well deserved.

“We provide full aftermarket service on all our products. We provide spares, repairs and maintenance, services load tests, training and complete refurbish- ment for all our clients across Southern Africa.

Goscor Hi-Reach’s products subscribe to high quality and safety standards says Landsberg. “All our manufacturers are ISO [International Organisation for Standardisation] accredited. At the same time, we have also embarked on a quality management approach,” adds Landsberg.

The company’s medium-term goal is to be both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliant, Landsberg says, adding that the quality management system that Goscor Hi-Reach has implemented will run for six months before ISO verification is sought.
“We have recently been audited by the likes of Sasol and ArcelorMittal South Africa in terms of the system and they have both found us to be compliant,” says Landsberg.

The company says the Genie Awards recognised its excellence in training, warranty support, parts availability, refurbishing, service and maintenance.

“We were the top distributor in terms of volume. We sold the biggest number of scissor lifts in Africa and the Middle East,” notes Landsberg, who received a special individual award for his personal contribution to Genie sales and growth in the region.

“We were by far the biggest distributor of scissor lifts in this region, with about 85% of the sales in the specified region.”

The outstanding quality of the Genie product, which is matched by the service and support it provides to our clients, makes Goscor Hi-Reach’s performance possible, adds Landsberg.

Terex Middle East & Southern Africa Goscor High-Reach’s parent company GM, Sharbel Kordahi, is pleased with Goscor Hi-Reach’s overall success. “Yet again, Goscor Hi-Reach’s performance has been outstanding. Year in and year out, Goscor Hi-Reach goes the distance for us and for its customers,” he points out.

The summit was attended by dealers from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan and South Africa.
