The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has extended the deadline for submission of entries for its Awards for Excellence from January 31 to April 24.

The winners would now be announced on the first day of the two-day Metals and Engineering Indaba, to be held on May 28 and 29 at Emperors Palace, in Ekurhuleni.

“The two events, which are certain to become the most crucial on the annual metals and engineering sector calendar, were introduced not only to encourage growth in a sector that has underperformed over the past few years, but also to celebrate excellence in the metals and engineering industries,” Seifsa CEO Kaizer Nyatsumba said.

The Seifsa Awards for Excellence comprised ten categories, including the Most Innovative Company of the Year; the Health and Safety Award of the Year; the Most Transformed Company of the Year; Customer Service Award of the Year; and the Environment Stewardship Award.

Further, there would be an award for the company that had trained the highest number of artisans in 2014, as well as the company that had a significant impact on the lives of its beneficiaries through its corporate social investment programmes.
