South African petro-chemicals group Sasol reported a 15% drop in full-year headline earnings on Monday, hit by a stronger rand, a provision for tax litigation and labour action.

Headline earnings per share (HEPS), the main profit gauge in South Africa which strips out certain one-off items, fell 15% to 35.15 rand for the year ended 30 June 2017 in comparison with 41.40 rand during the same period last year.

This was in line with what the company had previously flagged to the market.

Core headline earnings increased 6% to 2.29 rand per share compared to the prior year.
