Netherlands-based hydraulic equipment company Holmatro last month launched its Feel the Pressure! safety campaign to highlight the safe use of high-pressure hydraulic equipment.

Unprofessional use of high-pressure hydraulic tools is a regular occurrence in the hydraulics industry.

Holmatro states that hydraulic extensions installed by users, low-pressure components connected to high-pressure tools and careless use of tools form the basis for many unnecessary risks, adding that what may initially appear to be unimportant details can have far reaching consequences when working with high-pressure hydraulics.

Being aware of dangerous situations and taking certain avoidance measures, helps engineers and technical staff to avoid occupational risk or at least reduce it to a minimum.

Sufficient knowledge about high-pressure hydraulics is an important requisite, says the company.

Holmatro Test Team
Aided by the Holmatro Test Team, risks are demonstrated and explained in an easy, recognisable way.

Compelling video clips by the Holmatro Test Team are available on the campaign website, as well as information about high-pressure hydraulics, the possible dangers, and tips and tricks to reduce risks on the work floor.

The first video clip explains the basics of hydraulics and illustrates complex mathematical formulas about forces and weight into easily understandable format.

The other video clips deal with the possible dangers of incorrect use and damaged equipment. By showing recognisable situations, the viewer gains insight into what they have to deal with and what they can do to work with high-pressure hydraulics as correctly and safely as possible.

Industrial Solutions
In other news, Holmatro has built up broad experience and good references in the field of customised solutions in the heavy lifting and movement industry, and the company announced in July its innovations under the new name Industrial Solutions.

Holmatro industrial equipment director Niels Rombouts says, with Industrial Solutions, the company demonstrates going beyond developing and manufacturing standard hydraulic equipment. “The demand for customer- specific solutions has increased significantly over the years. We now have a complete team of engineers and experts, dedicated to finding the right solution for various different challenges together with the customer.”

Whether it be the computer-controlled synchronised positioning of heavy loads, the horizontal movement of industrial objects, installations of exceptional sizes in limited surroundings or the larger vertical movements of heavy loads with accurate control, nothing is impossible for the Holmatro Industrial Solutions team, he continues.

Cooperation with customers, ease of use and safety are recurring starting points for the development of these customised solutions, according to Holmatro.

All Holmatro products are developed, manufactured and thoroughly tested in-house. The products have a life span that extends for years, which can be extended by a comprehensive service programme.
