S African supplier secures distributorship
Mining solutions provider Harcliff Mining Services has been appointed the official South African distributor of Brazil-based crusher manufacturer Furlan’s product range, and US-based mining products manufacturer Excel Foundry & Machine’s offering, after being approached by the companies in 2015.
“In general, new and expansion mining projects in South Africa are declining, as a result of poor commodities prices and a weak exchange rate . . . high labour costs are further hindering the profitability of many mining operations, resulting in an increase in the refurbishment of older equipment, rather than the buying of new capital equipment,” says Harcliff director Darren Brown.
In line with this, the company has enhanced its focus on the engineering and manufacturing of its in-house products that offer reduced capital outlay and cost of ownership. Harcliff also aims to further expand its product range and services through the manufacturing of various crushing- related and other mining products, and is in the final stages of acquiring key technology equipment for this purpose.
Harcliff predominantly supplies mills, scrubbers and kilns, and offers a range of services including the design and manufacture of new processing equipment. It also offers plant rebuilds and refurbishments, which require the manufacture and supply of various new components such as open gearing, trunnions and gearboxes, Brown highlights. Harcliff also offers a range of wear and spare parts for crusher plants.
Brown believes that the Furlan and Excel brands will further complement Harcliff’s offering.
Furlan supplies a large number of crusher and associated plants in South America and the US with crushing equipment, including jaw, cone and impact crushers, in various sizes, for mining and aggregate applications. The company’s jaw crushers range from 75 kW to 250 kW and from 80 t/h to 1 000 t/h, while its cone crushers are available from 65 kW to 470 kW and offer seven crusher cavities.
The company also offers standard and custom- built vibratory equipment, including screens, grizzlies, chutes and feeders, as well as conveyor systems. Mobile crushing and screening equipment is also available.
“Furlan crushers offer robust design and energy efficiency with several hydraulic machine setting and safety features at a highly competitive price, while delivering lower production costs and overall cost of ownership,” says Brown.
He adds that Excel is an internationally well-known brand that has more than 40 years’ experience in the manufacture of original-equipment manufacturer alternative and aftermarket parts for most cones and gyratory crushers currently in use in the mining industry. The company also stocks a range of products for mining shovels.
