Ramaphosa to lead South African delegates at World Economic Forum
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is also the recently elected president of the incumbent African National Congress, will lead a South African delegation to the forty-eighth edition of the World Economic Forum’s yearly meeting, which will be held in Davos-Klosters, in Switzerland, from January 23 to 26.
The meeting will take place under the theme: Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World, and aims to promote renewed commitment to international collaboration as a way of solving critical global challenges.
More than 2 500 leaders from business, government, international organisations, civil society, academia and the arts are expected to attend the meeting.
Ramaphosa also led the South African delegation to the 2017 Davos meeting.
The South African delegation will comprise ministers and business leaders, with Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba as the lead minister and coordinator.
Meanwhile, President Jacob Zuma will lead a South African delegation to the thirtieth edition of the African Union (AU) Summit, in Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia from January 22 to 29.
Zuma is set to attend the African Peer Review Mechanism / New Partnership for Africa’s Development sessions on January 27, in addition to the thirtieth Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the AU, which is scheduled to take place on January 28 and 29.
