The Rail Road Association of South Africa will, next month, host an industry cluster summit to discuss the impact of local content and supplier and enterprise development on resuscitating the manufacturing sector.

The summit, to be held on April 21 and 22, would also focus on the effective implementation of the Black Industrialists Programme.

The focal areas to be discussed at the gathering include industrial policy alignment with rail concessions, effective coordination of local content, the role to be played by the industry and cluster approach and socioeconomic benefits.

The event is aimed at repositioning the rail industry towards achieving economic growth through localisation, industrialisation and transformation.
