End-users now have the ability to find a purpose-built pumpstation to suit their individual needs, owing to the launch of pump solutions provider Grundfos’s online Pumping Station Creator, which the company announced last month.

The Pumping Station Creator provides a quick access point to the full range of Grundfos prefabricated pumpstations.

The company notes that every wastewater network faces its own unique set of challenges, whether it is heavy rainfall in urban areas or challenges regarding high volumes of wastewater. One way of finding the answer is Grundfos’s new Pumping Station Creator, which gives easy access to the company’s range of tailor-made pumpstations with a high modular approach and advanced design tools.

“The [pumpstations] are customised and CE-marked and, when you add our newly developed Pumping Station Creator, which is an online design tool, I would say that we have a pretty strong hand,” says Grundfos global product manager Klaus Lauridsen.

Design Your Own Solution
The Pumping Station Creator is a part of the Grundfos product centre and, with this online application, designers, installers and contractors can go through the process of specifying the perfect size, features and functionalities for their projects in five easy steps.

“With this tool, it is quick and easy to design the appropriate pumpstation and, when you have completed the process, you will receive a full specification of your project with a unique specified quotation text and [computer-aided design] drawings,” Lauridsen explains, stating that user-friendliness was given substantial focus in the development of Pumping Station Creator.

Tested in Detail
When making a pumping station, many different components need to be in place and the whole system needs to be CE-marked. Sometimes customers have to do this themselves, but Grundfos offers a fully documented CE-marked solution. As the marking covers the entire pumpstation, customers avoid the hassle of creating the CE declaration of conformity before it is used.

“With thousands of units already in action, we are well known in the market and we have the experience needed to deliver high-quality products. Further, the CE-marking is, really, icing on the cake,” says Lauridsen.

The prefabricated pumpstations reduce construction costs on site and are plug-and-play solutions when the hole is deep enough to fit the station. “A swift installation, with pumps, controls, tank, pipework, a level-sensing system, a variable-speed drive, and a full range of communication possibilities – our package is without doubt an innovative solution, where the pump is one [of the] main characters,” he says.

Grundfos Facts
A yearly production of more than 16-million pump units makes Grundfos one of the world’s leading pumps manufacturers.

The main products in the company’s stable include circulator pumps for heating and air- conditioning, as well as other centrifugal pumps for industry, water supply, sewage and dosing. Grundfos is currently the world’s largest manufacturer of circulators, covering about 50% of the global circulator market.

In addition to pumps, Grundfos produces standard and submersible motors, as well as state-of-the-art electronics for monitoring and controlling pumps. Additional products are produced in the BioBooster and Lifelink divisions, which are part of the company’s new business activities.

Grundfos has also introduced Grundfos Blueflux, which is a new technology label that ensures the equipment is among the best in the market.

Grundfos in Denmark
Most activities in the Danish group of Grundfos companies – the sales company Grundfos DK, the production company Grundfos A/S and Grundfos Holding A/S – take place in the small town of Bjerringbro, where the company was established in 1945. In addition, Grundfos has Danish facilities in the towns of Aalestrup, Odense, Brøndby and Farum.

Grundfos Worldwide
More than 80 companies in over 55 countries represent the Grundfos group. In addition, local distributors sell Grundfos products in a large number of countries.

Ownership
The Poul Due Jensen Foundation was established as an independent institution in 1975. Today, the foundation owns 87.9%, staff 1.5% and the founder’s family 10.6% of the shares in Grundfos Holding A/S.

The aim of the foundation is to consolidate and expand the economic basis of the continued development of the Grundfos group. The capital and the profits of the foundation are to be used solely for the aim of the foundation, and profits are to be reinvested into the Grundfos group of companies.

Future Challenges
Grundfos has been represented in the pumps market for more than 60 years. “We want to continue this and so we aim to achieve even greater weight to be one of the largest partners in countries like Russia, India and Brazil, whereas we consider China as our second home market.

“We are facing big challenges and this is why we developed our innovation intent, focusing on sustainability, a changing world and ground-breaking technology,” the company concludes.
