Project Description
The project is the first oil refinery project in Uganda. It comprises the construction of an oil refinery with a 150 000-b/d capacity that will process Ugandan crude.

The project is expected to cost $2-billion.

Duration
The feasibility study is scheduled for completion by June 2010.

The government of the Republic of Uganda.

Latest Developments
Foster Wheeler's Global Engineering & Construction Group has been awarded a contract to undertake the feasibility study for the development of the oil refinery. Work will include development of the location and configuration of the refinery, as well as the assessment of options for the oilfield development, crude transportation and the evaluation of the relative economics of developing the new refinery compared with alternative options. The value of the feasibility study contract has not been disclosed.

Countries like China, Libya and Iran have expressed an interest in partnering with Uganda in the construction of the oil refinery.
